What is your Show & Tell object?

It’s my first passport when I was 5 years old.

Where did you acquire it?

The London Passport Office April 26th 1986.

What makes your chosen object special to you?

Well first of all I love the fact that at the small age of 5, I was called Mr. M L Galapon something which I still don’t think I’ve grown into yet. Other than that it reminds me of all the trips to Canada and NYC I used to take with my parents when I was younger to see family out there. From going up the CN Tower and seeing Niagara Falls in Canada at 5 y.o. to experiencing the vastness that is NYC. I still have vivid memories of waiting for the lift in the South Tower lobby of the World Trade Centre at the age of 10, mainly as I’m not good with heights and the thought of going all the way to the top at the time freaked me out a bit. I’m much better with heights now though.

Does your chosen object say anything about your sense of style, or your personality?

Probably not so much my style, but more of my personality I reckon. I like to know how certain things are made, like the print process, texture and materials. So with my object you’ve got Foil Blocking on the front, the odd laminated pages throughout and the odd stamp embossing.

Are you coveting anything particular at the moment?

I’m obsessed with neon signs at the moment and I’ve been contemplating getting a logo I designed recently made into one.

If you were re-incarnated as an object or piece of furniture what would you be?

I remember as a child the old Sony Trinitron CRT Television my parents used to have as it had this fake plastic wood effect shell. So as bulky as it was I’d come back as that, as it’d be easy getting people’s attention.

Where is your favourite place to be?

I’m not too fussy as long as I’m with good friends/family/people and there’s cool stuff to do or see.

Clutter or minimalism?

Organized clutter.

Future or past?

Think Forward, Look Backwards I say!
