To people not hugely into architecture it may come as a surprise that Le Corbusier built a modernist city called Chandigarh in India. The Neelam theatre featured in this post is not by Le Corbusier. Apparently he did not show much interest in designing the commercial district which was lucky for architect Aditya Prakash who was given the opportunity to design 3 cinemas in sector 17. Sector 17 is described by Vikram Prakash (architectural historian & son of Aditya) as "the heart of the city" . The photos in this post were taken by Edmund sumner. Read and see more on Dezeen.
